Johnny is going active in Army...

Well, we just found out recently that Johnny decided to go active in the Army instead of just staying reserves. He mentions often to us how he loves the Army and he would love to be able to travel around the world, He really wants to go to Germany. Although we are scared for him, we do support him. Mark feels this would be a good move and not to mention a smart one. Johnny feels that the Army will take care of him with housing, medical insurance, schooling & work. My friend Becca talked to Johnny about it to him, she has a lot of knowledge about military b/c she grew up with it. He is waiting for the Sergeant to sign off on papers and then he will be deployed. It could happen in a month or two. Johnny will be 20 years old in June (I can't believe it) and to me he is still a kid and has his whole life ahead of him. We wish lots of luck & success with it. I know he will do what he needs to do to fight for his country. I remember when he was a senior in high school and the recruiters would call to try & get him to join and I would tell them " don't call here again" or "you are not enlisting our only son" and hang up on them. Then next thing you know Johnny made this decision on his own. A lot of people couldn't believe that he chose to do this, but this was his choice & we support him.

We love you more than you'll ever know. You are wonderful son, brother, nephew, grandson & friend. We are blessed to have you in our lives. We have had our share of arguments & disagreements, but it was because we love you and we wanted the best for you, because you deserve it. You are a beautiful soul that God created for us. We could not ask for a better son. We know you will do your best and we will pray for your safe return. Just know that your family & friends are rooting for you and that we love you. When you do come home, you will be embraced with love!!!!
